On September 26, 2019, the Chicago, Fox Valley, Madison and Milwaukee CUGC chapters joined forces again, this time at Miller Park in Milwaukee for the 2nd annual CUGC Great Lakes XL. This year, we had some great speakers: DJ Eshelman, Ron Oglesby, Theresa Miller, Ryan Butler & Jarian Gibson.
Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors. I know we say this a lot, but without your support these events would not be possible!!
DJ Eshelman, Citrix CTA @TheCitrixCoach led off the day with his presentation entitled “From Cubicle to Consultant: The Massive Career Opportunities in Citrix and EUC.” DJ chronicled his path from living/working out of his car for a few years to where he is today with tips on how you can improve your career path.
Ron Oglesby @RonOglesby was next on deck with a dive into Citrix Performance Analytics. He walked us through where Citrix Analytics fits, the data available in this system and how we could utilize this to make better decisions.
Theresa Miller, CUGC Women In Technology Mentor and Citrix CTP @24x7ITConnect, was next up with a look at how to “Take Control of your Windows Updates for Citrix Cloud on Azure.” We left with some good ideas on how to better manage our systems in the Azure cloud.
Ryan Buter, Citrix CTP @Ryan_C_Butler led off after lunch with a deep dive of “Devops for Desktops.” Ryan walked us through how he built and automated his desktop image process.
Jarian GIbson, Citrix CTP @JarianGibson batted next-up and gave us best practices for utilizing “Office 365 in a Citrix Session.” Jarian had lots of tips for anyone that is running O365 in Citrix.
Once Jarian wrapped up, we shifted to smaller table chats where everyone could break out and talk about any issues or questions that they are facing in their current environment.
As we wrapped up, I still can’t believe that this is our third Great Lakes XL! We’ve already started planning for our next one in Fall 2020, and we’re going back to where the Great Lakes XL began. Thanks again to all of our attendees and sponsors see you next year!
