My Trek to Citrix Synergy 2019

by Carl Behrent, CTA

Citrix Synergy 2019 is only weeks away now, and I am really looking forward to my 3rd Synergy (previously 2015 and 2017 in Orlando) this time, in Atlanta.

Being from the underside of the world down here in New Zealand, to get to attend any event like this can be quite a mission and a very long trek. For me, getting to Atlanta involves three flights: New Plymouth to Auckland (45mins), Auckland to Houston (13.5hrs), and Houston to Atlanta (2hrs), plus airport waiting times and crossing many different times zones. I’m leaving New Zealand at 7:30pm on Friday May 17th and I get into Atlanta at 11pm on Friday May 17th, (if only it did take just a few hours to get there) so basically I’m going “Back to the Future.”

This year, the sessions I’m really looking forward to are about ‘Workspace.‘ This area really aligns with my new role, and Synergy this year seems very Workspace heavy. A really good summary of these sessions is this Citrix Blog – Binge a season of The Geek’s Guide to the Workspace at Synergy ’19

From previous years experience, I have learnt not to completely book all my time during Synergy to attend sessions. I have done this in the past but as soon as you get to Synergy, this goes out the window. You can spend a lot of time networking with other Citrix professionals, meeting new people and visiting the Solutions Expo checking out all of the sponsors there and seeing what they have on display.

There is a lot of other great content at Synergy outside of the sessions, be sure to check out:

Looking forward to catching up with you there!
