What Citrix technologies are most important to your work?
The XenApp/XenDesktop suite, paired with NetScaler ADC+Gateway, allows our users to have a great and consistent experience from any device, any location, and at any given time. These products have become a core component to delivering applications and desktops to our entire workforce.
What’s the biggest tech challenge you deal with, and how does Citrix help?
Delivering applications to thousands of endpoints utilizing traditional methods is nearly impossible, but Citrix helps us overcome this challenge. With so many users and machines across hundreds of offices, delivering those applications and desktops from the datacenter is by far the most efficient, secure way to go about this.
You’re part of the leadership team planning the upcoming Midwest XL event. How are things going?
Getting to help plan the CUGC XL has been an awesome experience. It is great working with other leaders and CUGC HQ to plan something in which the entire Midwest Citrix community will participate. I love the fact that we are hosting it here in Indianapolis. With my role as a local resource, I have been able to scope out some possible venues in person and report the pros and cons of each back to CUGC HQ. It’s been a great opportunity, and I am excited to see all of the planning and work come to fruition in September!

What do you enjoy about leading the Indianapolis group?
CUGC has given me a unique opportunity to take on a leadership role within the community. It has had some different twists and challenges compared to being a leader within the typical workplace. However, the ability to facilitate the entire Indianapolis Citrix community and watch everyone collaborate and network together is extremely rewarding.
Any favorite words of wisdom that you live or work by?
One of my favorite quotes to live by comes from Albert Einstein: “Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another; it is the only way.” A leader should not expect people to follow him or her if they are not leading by example, and I try to keep those words in mind at all times.
What do you do for fun?
Well, I don’t have kids (unless you count my dog, Walker), so if you ask any of my coworkers with children, I have all of the spare time in the world! You typically won’t find me sitting inside the house on the weekends. I enjoy anything outdoors, such as dirt/mountain biking, motorcycling, running, kayaking, and fishing. I have an amazing girlfriend that is as adventurous as I am, so you’ll typically find us together in our voyages!
