CUGC Women In Tech 2018 Update

by Sarah Vogt, Orlando CUGC Leader, Women In Tech Mentor, Steering Committee

Keeping the Momentum Going!

I’m so thrilled to be a new member of the CUGC Women in Technology mentoring program! 2017 was an amazing year for the group, and the program was so successful that it doubled in size for 2018. We continue to receive inquiries about the program, so the momentum is definitely building.

Welcome New Mentors

Our 2018 class has expanded to include three new mentors: myself, Sarah Vogt, 2017 mentee Rene Reighard, and Cathleen Leik. Founding CTP mentors Esther Barthel, Theresa Miller and Jo Harder are continuing with the program, and we have all begun setting goals and holding regular meetings with our current class of mentees.

New CUGC Women in Technology Community Page

I’m also pleased to announce that CUGC Women in Tech now has a dedicated page on myCUGC.org! This is the best place to get updates on the program, read through our blog posts, and get information about our mentors. As the program continues to grow, we’ll be consistently updating the page, so be sure to check it often.

Welcome New Sponsors

We’re also very excited to announce that ControlUp and FSLogix have signed on as CUGC Women in Technology sponsors for 2018! With their support, the program will now include expanded training from technical experts at each company, product evaluation licenses for program participants, as well as additional resources for networking and professional development.

Onward and Upward

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has been involved with the program to date, as every bit of support helps us move forward. As Esther pointed out in the program’s inaugural blog post, a lack of female role models and mentorship opportunities have been cited as the key roadblocks to professional development for many women in the technology field. I’m thankful to Esther, Theresa and Jo for getting this program started, and excited for the growth to come!

Stay tuned for more updates from the 2018 class of mentorships!
